The Admiral Trust are sponsoring the Joshua Foundation

The Joshua Foundation has a base in Arusha and has already built a flourishing school in the centre of Tanzania at Mogugu. The Tanzanian government consider it a model school and it is in the top 10 achievers in that part of Africa. The Joshua land at Arusha is split in two by a river and the land on the one side was earmarked for a school for all ages to serve the local community and act as a training centre for the teachers that Joshua train each year. The first task that was completed was to bridge the river for vehicle access. The second task was to build 3 classrooms on the original land on “this” side of the river.  The frame was scaffolding and beams with CI sheet roof (provided and build by Scaffold companies and Scaffolders) and Joshua built the walls. This was completed about 2 years ago. These classrooms are now full and contain primary children – already about 150 of them!

The third task was to provide 2 teachers houses on the “far” side of the river in preparation for the new school building and to provide accommodation. This was completed last year.

The fourth task is to build the first section of the school. The plan is 2 classrooms with facilities (loos etc.) and a teachers room. This has started and the overall cost is £30K. This has been met partially by a charity in New Zealand and partially by another charity (£10K each), and so they are £10K short.  The building is at wall plate level and they need to complete it ready for the new term in Jan 2014. The £10K will complete it.— Yes you get quite a lot for your money in Africa!
