Uptown Funk receive £2,000 from The Trust

Terry Withers attended local youth charity Uptown to present them with a cheque to the value of £2,000. The Uptown Dance Academy offers dance and drama taster workshops, in both contemporary and street dance working in partnership with professional artists and theatre companies for showcases. The Youth Club and Learning Centre is a safe place to meet new friends, participate in a variety of activities and have fun. Year 11s are offered support into Education, Employment and Training. Holiday projects are provided throughout the year with access to accredited programmes. Uptown also supports a youth club for able young people with learning disabilities.

This youth club is commendably run by Joan Simms and her dedicated band of volunteers but has suffered cutbacks of around £30,000 worth of funding this year so our donation was greatly received.
